HTC Desire 650 Budget Smartphone Unveiled in Taiwan; Scores well in Audio department

HTC is one of the most reputed brands in the smartphone. They are known for its quality smartphones with impressive cameras. Their latest smartphone has been dubbed as HTC Desire 650. It is a budget phone which will be launched next month in Taiwan with a price tag of roughly $170 (around Rs.11,700).

The phone has already been listed on the official website for Taiwan. The listing reveals most of the specifications and features. We will be taking a quick look at them now.

  • Display

First of all, the HTC Desire 650 comes with a 5-inch IPS HD display with a pixel density of 294ppi. It will also have an unspecified version of Corning Gorilla Glass on top to provide some degree of protection against damage.

  • Processor

It has been listed with a quad-core Snapdragon processor but the exact model has not been specified. But we believe that it will come with a Snapdragon 610 clocked up to 1.7GHz which will be paired with Adreno 405.

  • Camera

On the camera front, it will offer a 13MP primary camera on the rear. It has features like Aperture 2.0, 28mm focal length, Auto Focus and LED flash. You can also shoot 1080p videos at 30fps. The front side offers a decent 5MP camera with aperture 2.8, 34mm focal length and ability to shoot 1080p videos.

  • Storage

The HTC Desire 650 comes with a decent amount of storage. It has 2GB of RAM alongside 16GB of expandable memory. It can be expanded up to a massive 2TB with the help of a micro SD card.

It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with HTC Sense skin on top.

  • Features

HTC Desire 650 flaunts the HTC BoomSound audio as well as Hi-res Audio Certificate. The smartphone also comes with a number of sensors like Accelerometer, Proximity and Ambient Light sensor.

  • Communication

All the communication fronts are covered as it offers Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, Hotspot, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, NFC and Micro USB 2.0.

The dimensions of the HTC Desire 650 are 146.90mm x 70.90mm x 8.40mm. It weighs around 140 grams. It also has a special dual finish on the back. The upper half has a smooth surface while the lower half has many ridges. The makes the phone very grippy and also gives it a ‘rugged’ look. But make no mistake, it isn’t one.

The main highlight of the phone is the HTC BoomSound paired with Hi-res Audio certification. HTC claims that the 2200mAh battery offers as much as 17 hours of talktime and a little over 5 and a half hour of browsing with Wi-Fi. The audio capabilities along with a 13MP camera on the rear make HTC Desire 650 a great pick for this price point.

Price and availability of HTC Desire 650

As we mentioned earlier, the official price of the HTC Desire 650 has not been disclosed yet. Many reports are estimating that it will be priced around the $170 price range.

It will be offered in Midnight Blue and White colour variants. Currently, HTC Desire 650 is only listed on HTC’s Taiwan website. There is no official word if it will be launched internationally or it will stay in the company’s home country.
