Niantic labs have released the widely anticipated augmented reality game Pokémon Go in USA, New Zealand, Australia to be released on the iOS and Android platforms. Niantic was the former Google unit to develop the game Ingress. Now it has teamed up with Pokémon and Nintendo to bring the game to the mobile platform.
It will have its own niche with its augmented reality to masses in the consumer electronics market.
Niantic founder John Hanker was excited as Pokémon enthusiasts can download this game and start exploring their neighborhood and streets along with Pokémon.
Pokémon will also feature a wearable device which will help to harvest items from poke stops and also capture Pokémon without taking the phone out of their pockets.
This release of augmented reality release of Pokémon in mobile phone platforms was preceded by wide field testing in USA, Australia, Japan and New Zealand.
This game has options take pictur3e of encounters made with other Pokémon’s and also sharing them with others.
Among features added to the game are the ability to take photos of various Pokémon encounters and sharing them with others.
The game is currently downloadable freely however users can opt for in game purchases from 99 cents to 99.99 dollars.
Niantic labs strength with its storytelling, game design and geo location technology were used by its investment partners including Pokémon Company, Nintendo and Google with a dollar 30 million dollar investment to take the gaming in an entirely new environment.
This kind of gaming was earlier envisioned by HP as the gaming arena is the environment around and not only the mobile screen.
