Samsung launched its S7 and S7 Edge back in March. They were an instant hit and sold all over the world in huge quantities. Earlier in September, Apple launched its new iPhone 7s in a shiny Jet Black colour variant which stole the limelight post the Note 7 debacle. Now, it seems like Samsung is all set to launch Galaxy S7 Glossy Black to counter the Jet Black iPhones.
Galaxy S7 Glossy Black or Piano Black?
A couple of days back, news started surfacing that Samsung is reportedly working on a new colour variant of the S7. Soon after that, Blue Coral variant was made official. Now, a number of images have leaked on Weibo which reveal the Galaxy S7 Glossy Black colour variant.
There is a high probability that the Galaxy S7 Glossy Black colour variant will be dubbed as “Piano Black”. Yes, we know that S7 and S7 Edge are already available in the Black Onyx colour. But the upcoming Glossy Black (or should we say Piano Black?) will be darker and glossier. Also, it will feature black rim around the body.
More about Galaxy S7 Glossy Black
The Galaxy S7 Edge is currently available in Black Onyx, Gold Platinum, Pink Gold, Silver Titanium and White Pearl. The Galaxy S7 Glossy Black or Piano Black will be another addition of Black colour variant.
The Galaxy S7 Glossy Black looks strikingly similar to the S7 Edge Olympic Games Limited Edition which was launched back in August. Obviously, it does not feature the joint rings that were on the Limited Edition phone.
What else?
As we mentioned earlier, a Blue Coral colour was launched some time back but it is only available in selected markets. In India, it is nowhere to be seen yet and there is no word on whether the device will be launched in India or not.
To recall, Apple released its latest iPhone 7 and 7 Plus in a brand new colour variant this year – Jet Black. They said that they used a unique 9-step technique to get the glossy finish of the new colour entrant. All those efforts were not in vain as the Jet Black was an instant hint. It immediately went out of stock and was the most sought after colour variant. The Galaxy S7 Glossy Black or Piano Black could be Samsung’s attempt at a comeback.
Though it was sold like hot cakes, there was something very wrong with this colour variant. Since it was extremely shiny, it was very (VERY) prone to scratches. The problem was so serious that Apple itself advised the buyers to purchase a case for the same. This means that you will not be able to show off the shiny body of your shiny Jet Black iPhone. How unfortunate, isn’t it?

We believe that this shiny new colour variant will be launched in December itself. Will the Galaxy S7 Glossy Black (Piano Black) be the same as iPhones Jet Black colour? Or will Samsung be able to come up with an innovative solution for this problem? We don’t have a clue. Only time will tell how it will turn out to be. Stay tuned for more updates.
