Facebook is a largest growing social networking sites, is now being used for selling weapons. According to New York Times report, small arms and light weapons have been sold in facebook. In this week Times provided facebook with seven suspicious groups, after the report the company shut down six of them.
Earlier this year Facebook has banned the private sales of gun and ammunition on a social network and also at Instagram. This has been the major problems of social networking sites.
A study on Armament research services ARES shows that the selling of online light weapons in Libya, not only Libya we also find a country like Syria, Iraq and Yemen. The ARES study tells the 2011 revolution in Libya brought an end to the Libyan state’s regulation of the arms trade.
Military stockpiles were raided and small arms and light weapons made their way into the hands of non-state armed groups and private sellers. Head of facebook Global Policy Management Miss. Monika Bickert has commented that one reported group survived the company’s scrutiny, without displaying any photos of weapons but only discussed them and forbade sales.
