According to a renowned analyst, Ming-Chi Kuo who works for KGI Securities, the 2017 Apple MacBook Pro will witness a price cut along with added support for up to 32GB of RAM. Kuo is a very popular man as he has been able to successfully foresee Apple’s every move over the last couple of years.
The 2016 MacBook Pro was launched only a couple of days back. It offered better hardware, Touch Bar and also commanded a higher price than the outgoing variant. The prices start from USD 1,299 (Rs.1,29,900) for the base variant without the Touch Bar. The base variant of the premium 15-inch MacBook Pro starts from USD 1,999 (Rs.2,05,900). Not very economical, aren’t they?
The top premium variant costs a whopping USD 2,899 which features 16GB of RAM. This may sound like a lot for average users but for the pros and the heavy users, it is not enough.
Apple is using Intel’s 6th Gen SkyLake architecture which requires LPDDR4 RAM for performing up to its full potential. However, Apple uses LPDDR3 RAM on the MacBooks because it helps in improving the battery backup but restricts the amount of RAM to 16GB.
What to expect from the 2017 Apple MacBook Pro?
Apple always keeps the prices of its MacBook series high but if you go by Kuo’s word, that just might change in a couple of months. According to him, there is a very high probability that Apple might switch to Intel’s upcoming 10nm Cannonlake or 14nm Coffee Lake architecture-based CPU. Which one makes its way to the 2017 Apple MacBook Pro simply depends on the availability.
Another possible reason why Apple would improve the hardware and cut the price down is that Windows laptops and Notebooks are offering such extreme hardware which will make the MacBooks look like a puny joke. 4.5GHz clock speeds, 64GB of RAM, 8GB dedicated graphic cards and whatnot. Don’t you think the MacBook Pro feels like a toy now?
Kuo is also positive about the replacement of LPDDR3 with LPDDR4 in the next variant of the MacBook. The new architecture along with the LPDDR4 will result in improved performance, battery backup and support for lot more RAM than the 2016 MacBook Pro. If you’re still hesitating to buy the latest MacBooks, you might as well for a little more time. The 2017 Apple MacBook Pro will perform better and will also drill a smaller hole in your pocket. Stay tuned for more updates.
