Huawei is one of the companies which is known for offering good specifications at a reasonable price. Recently, they came into the limelight when they introduced the much awaited Mate 9. They also launched Huawei Mate 9 Porshe Design along with it. Both these phones got a very warm response. Later, Huawei also introduced the Huawei Mate 9 Pro which was a China exclusive. Now, they have silently launched the Huawei Mate 9 Lite.
Specifications of Huawei Mate 9 Lite

The phone comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1080p) display with a 2.5D curved glass on top.
- Processor
It is powered by an octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 655 processor clocked up to 2.1GHz.
- Camera
On the camera front, the Huawei Mate 9 Lite comes with a dual-camera (12MP + 2MP) setup on the back. An 8MP selfie shooter sits on the front side of the phone.
- Storage
It will be offered in two variants. One with 3GB of RAM and 32GB ROM while the other variant will come with 4GB RAM and 64GB ROM.
- OS
The Huawei Mate 9 Lite will run on Android 6.0.1 with Emotion UI 4.1 (EMUI 4.1) out of the box.
- Communication
All the connectivity options are onboard. These include Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi direct, Hotspot, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS and USB Type-C support.
- Features
It offers tons of sensors like Fingerprint, Hall Effect, Proximity, Compass, Ambient Light Sensor, Accelerometer etc.
- Battery
There is a big 3340mAh battery, probably non-removable, to power the Huawei Mate 9 Lite.

As the name suggests, the Huawei Mate 9 Lite is a toned down variant of the original Mate 9. In fact, we can see the downgrades in almost everything. Smaller and lower resolution display, weaker processor, lesser RAM and ROM, lesser megapixels in the camera, a little dated OS and a smaller battery. The dual camera is there but it skips the Leica co-branding.
As a matter of fact, all these specifications are the same as the Huawei Honor 6X which was launched in China last month. This means that Huawei has launched the Honor 6X as Mate 9 Lite in the international market.
Price and Availability of Huawei Mate 9 Lite
Though the phone has been listed on the official website, there is no word on its pricing or availability. As we mentioned earlier, the company has quietly added the phone on the website without drawing much attention.
However, we do know about the prices of the Honor 6X. The 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant comes with a price tag of CNY 9999 (approximately Rs.9,900). There is no rocket science behind our belief that the 4GB RAM variant will be priced a little higher than this.
What else?
It will be available in three colour variants namely – Gold, Gray and Silver. The pricing of the Honor 6X suggests that the Huawei Mate 9 Lite will also be a budget phone and obviously the cheapest of all the Mate 9s out there right now. That is it for now. Stay tuned for more updates.
