The researcher from the UT Southwestern Medical Center, have reveal that when a patient suffers from prostate cancer usually undergoes androgen-deprivation therapies and such practices lead them to suppressed adaptive immune response.
According to the Published journal- Science Translational Medicine, deprivation of the Androgen causes the loss of immune response. The Androgen-deprivation therapies are anti-hormone therapies which decrease the androgens and later stops cancer cells to grow.
While according to the researchers the ADTs technique is the traditional treatment process for handling Prostrate cancer but also minimized the immune response and are more prone to develop early tumor replace.
So the head of the researcher, Dr. Yang-Xin Fu, Professor of Pathology and Immunology suggested that there should be acceptance of both patient and the physicians before starting chemotherapy or radiation on cancer parts and also reconsider to combine the therapies along with immunotherapies too.
He also added that the ADTs method is the only way to treat prostate cancer which is mostly seen in the male. And decreasing the Androgen level from the body may too decrease the immune response that lowers the relapse of early tumors.
