UP polls 2017: Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Akhilesh Kumar sacked Minister of Star for Higher Education Sharad Pratap Shukla was sacked from the party for contesting polls on RLD ticket. Denying ticket to Shukla, Party has given ticket Anurag Yadav who is a cousin of Akhilesh Yadav.

He is also a cousin of SP MP Dharmendra Yadav from Sarojini Nagar Assembly seat in Lucknow. Now sacked leader Sharad Yadav is contesting polls on the RLD ticket.
An officer from Raj Bhawan told PTI, “Minister of State for Higher Education (Independent charge), Sharda Pratap Shukla, has been sacked by Governor Ram Naik on recommendations of the Chief Minister.” Shukla is considered a close aide of SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Shukla knew that he would be sidelined by Akhilesh
It is worth mentioning here that Shukla has already aware that he would be sidelined that is why he had filed two sets of nomination papers on the dates respectively. He filed one of the nominations as Rashtriya Lok Dal candidate and the other as an independent.
On the other hand, Swati Singh- chief of BJP women wing is in the fray from Sarojini Nagar. She is the wife of former state vice president BJP Dayashankar Singh. The UP will vote on February 11 in seven phases and the counting will be held on March 11.
