Xiaomi suddenly came into the limelight last week when they launched the Mi Note 2. But got them even more attention was the concept phone that was announced along with it – Xiaomi Mi Mix. The concept phone instantly turned into the dream phone of many. What we are going to tell might kind of pop your balloon and bring you back to harsh reality. Xiaomi Mi Mix Drop Test (accidental one) resulted in a disaster. We are going to show you the image of what was left of the phone and it might break your heart.
See this picture? If you do not find this design alluring, I cannot imagine what else will. It is a gorgeous looking phone with all the top notch specifications and a price to match. The main highlight of the phone is the almost bezeless edge-to-edge display. The 6.44-inch OLED display with a 91.3% screen-to-body ratio comes without any sort of protection and is extremely fragile. This huge display does not have the protection of Corning Gorilla Glass or Dragontrail glass etc which make it prone to significant damage when dropped.
Xiaomi Mi Mix Drop Test
A man in Xiaomi Store, China accidently dropped the phone (the accidental drop test) and this is was the result. This might not come as a surprise but the display was all messed up. As you can see that the display has not only cracked at multiple places, it has literally come off like the banana’s skin hanging before being ripped off!
Well, the damage to the screen was evident but another thing that is surprising is that even the ceramic body of the phone has taken quite a beating. It has also been screwed up pretty badly. Now, it becomes clear why Xiaomi is bundling a case along with the phone. Probably because the phone cannot survive without it!
Well, it seems like our dream to have a phone which looks like that (bezeless) and is also a little more durable as well as long lasting might have to weight. It is not that the Mi Mix is a good phone. It still looks wonderful and houses a lot of raw power. But I personally am going to give this one a pass. The reason being it is not one of the cheapest phones around. If I am going to invest that much amount of money, I also expect the device to be that good. The Xiaomi Mi Mix drop test, though accidental, shows that this phone scores very low on the durability.
So the moral of the story is…
The phone is not up for sale yet but it will be November 4 at 7 pm.
If you want to buy the Xiaomi Mi Mix, you definitely can. There nothing fundamentally wrong with it. However, we do learn a lesson from the Xiaomi Mi Mix drop test. It is that unless absolutely necessary, do not take your phone out of the case. If you do so, you might as well learn the same lesson the hard way. You might also want to get a good quality tampered glass for the Mi Mix. Also, do not forget to purchase the official accidental insurance which will set you back by CNY 249 (around $37 or Rs.2,500).
